I'm Maizie and I'd like to welcome you to my special page! On this page Mom puts lots of pictures of me for you to see. She changes them sometimes so check back to see new ones now and then! Mom says I'm extra special cuz I'm her Diabetic Alert Dog. Since I was just a little puppy I've been making sure to let Mom know if her bloodsugar goes too low or too high. I lick and lick her face and nip her chin and paw at her chest to make sure she listens to me.
Then she checks her bloodsugar to see if it's high or low. She always tells me what a good girl I am for being such a special helper. Now I have a special vest to wear with a patch that says I'm a Medical Alert Service Dog.
When I was born my tail was folded over and "deformed" so it had to be amputated. But dat's ok... Mom and Nana say my stubby tail makes me just that much more special!
I ran to greet Mommy one day and fell down some stairs and broked my shoulder. I had to have pins put in there. The vet said I'm very lucky it happened when I was a baby, cuz my bones healed so well.
Dis beez my doctaw Hawtman....him fixed my lieggie.
I hafta help Mom when her shooga gets too high or too low. When her sugar is very high I lay on her chest n press myself against her. She knows that when I do this she needs to check her bloodsugar n take some extra insulin if her sugar is high.
Here I am in my workin' vest!
Oh wook what mom did to me!
When her shooga is too low I paw at Mom's chest and nip at her ears and nose and chin. I lick her face and lick her face and lick her face! I have to make sure she knows what I'm tellin' her ya know! Mom tells me that when I have my special vest on I am a "working girl" and have to be especially well behaved. Sometimes that's hard, especially when people want to talk to me and stuff. But Mom says I'm an awfully good girl most of the time.
This is my Aunt Neva... I lived with her from when I was born and she gave me to my Mom when I was six months old.

Work work work!... I love my job!
Here I am taking care of Mom in the hospital. I was very worried about her.

Working hard or hardly working?
Sweet little girl, worked hard all day, alerted to my low bloodsugars on 3 separate occasions. So she was tuckered out cold heading home!
